Abused by Citimortgage?
I have spoken to many customers of what used to be California Federal Bank and First Nationwide Mortgage Corporation, regarding their dissatisfaction with Citi's new ownership of their accounts. The overwhelmingly unanimous response has been to "forget them better still". Change banks and/or refi mortgages to get away from Citi.
We are now at the point however, where we can no longer just walk away. Due to the sheer size of Citibank, Citicorp and Citimortgage, its many victims will need to work together to effect any real solutions here. Please share any information which may be helpful in stopping the abuses currently being committed by Citi. |

I know I'm being ripped off-I just want MY money back. I paid into an escrow account for many months, refinanced and have not had success getting my check back. I've been told 15 different stories by 15 different representatives. The checks in the mail-LIE. This is MY money, what laws are there protecting consumers from this THEFT! Overnight mail has been posed my way 3 times, still don't have my check. Anyone knowledgable about a law that protects consumers please reply. Is Citi mortgage collecting interest on my money? is this why they won't return it? What the hell can a person do?
PLEASE RESPOND WITH ANY INFO OR SIMILARITIES Jean |

I would like some numbers other than customer service, I called customer service and they do not seem to help me. I demand for a supervisor and they come back and change their voice and act like they are a supervisor. What about physical address vs a
p o box. so I can send certified letter about my problem. Carl Levinson is the CEO I would like an address for him. |

File a complaint with The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

I too was a First Nationwide mortgage customer and was very upset to see Citimortgage take over. I had problems with them (Citigroup) posting to my credit report that I had defaulted on a credit card in 1990. I found it in 1994 when trying to by a house. I currently had a card with them but not an old one. Because the first time buyers program I was working with would not let me finance with a bad credit report I ended up sending them 500.oo just to remove something that wasn't mine. They said I could fight it later and get it removed, wrong I fought it for a year straight and never got my 500.00 back never got it removed from my credit report. They had be down as a Robert, I am female. Thats the only thing I had when I had to explain it for the next 3 years to others, I am not a Robert, never been a Robert.. what a joke that bank is. I closed the card I did have with them and have avoided them like the plaque since, but they found me.
Now they have doubled my real estate tax estimate, sent me a shortage notice for escrow, not credited my sept mortgage payment, charged me a late fee for september and give me harrassing collection calls on money I have sent!!! They posted it as an escrow payment not a sept mortgage payment. What a mess this company is. They are AGAIN messing with my credit for something that is not MINE!!! And I too, can not get past customer service, can not talk to a supervisor and when you do talk to them, nothing gets done. I have just contatced the RESPA division of HUD for the escrow problems. To answer the above question, yes you can send a certified letter return receipt to a post office box. The person who goes and picks up the mail from the PO box will sign for the letters. Also I cc the Pres and the VP of citimortgage because I beleive in the trickle down method. LOL Start at the top and let the shit roll down hill. There office is in the Executive Offices PO BOX 790150 St Louis, MO 63179-0150 David Schneider is President of Citimortgage, Steve Stein is the Exec VP. Maybe if we all start at the top something will change at the bottom of the pile, customer service. I am seriously considering suing them. Any one want to join in and make it a class action suit? Let me know

Banking Shanannigans & Snaffoos
Again I will stress the OCC to folks with the sorts of problem you are experiencing. They all do it to some extent. Some banks are more curdious and interested in repeat customers, others like Wells-Fargo and Citigroup care ONLY FOR THE BOTTOM LINE!!! The OCC is a paper trail that will be invaluable to you as you deal with peons who pretend to be supervisors... If they don't have the records then you will know they AREN'T SUPERVISORS and they will likely not pretend or attempt to pretend...
As for credit issues, a copy of OCC preceedings to the credit reporting buearus does help your case but you have to FIRST follow through with the SLOW wheels of the FEDs at the OCC.

About 3 weeks ago I tried to pay off the pricipal of 3 citimortgage accounts with wire transfers. All 3 wire transfers were received by Citimortgage as confirmed by my bank but citimortgage apparently made a mistake and only paid off 2 accounts. I have been calling Citimortage customer service number almost daily in the past 3 weeks and have given them the wire transfer details including the reference number. I have also fax in the details about my wire transfer to a fax number provided by them, but no results came back. The representative on the phone just made empty promises and the next day it would be another representative to start all over again. The most frustrating part is that there seemed to be no process within Citimortgage to resolve a mistake made by itself, so the representatives also had no choice but to make empty promises, or even lie about the situation. The supervisers are not of any real help.
I am really fed up with Citimortgage and would like to file a formal complaint with the OCC. The representative from OCC told me that Citimortgage is a saving bank so the complaint should be file to OTS instead. Is this true? I saw some previous posting saying that it should be OCC for comlaint filing. |

That is news to me... But if OCC says they are a "saving bank" then follow their directions... (Think that is comical... They seem to be saving your money for themselves... What a crock of BS that creates. Plausable deniablity is the name of the game!) Isn't our GOVERNMENT complex and wonderful about not being connected enough to take the complaint and enter it into a COMMON "bank fraud" database...
I wish you luck. You might try all of the "CEO-types" information posted previously.

GRRRR! Since MAY 2003 when they bought out 1st nationwide, cictimortgage has misapplied my payments to other accounts. In ONE month ihad to pay SIX months worth of payments just so I could stay "Current" according to them. They finally admitted their mistakes, but still reported me as past due on my credit report. So I have been going back and forth with them since mid August trying to fix my credit so I can refinance. I am SOOOOOO ticked off. If anybody has any idea how I can get through their thick skulls, run arounds, and lack of customer service, puh-leeze let me know.

I had a mortgage with Citimortgage which was refinanced in April. Due to a delay in escrow closing on the new loan, we needed to make an electronic payment for our April payment in order to avoid a late charge. Here's where the problems begin. The funds were never withdrawn from my checking account. I contacted Citimortgage to find out why. I was told by a customer service rep that the payment was made out of the escrow funds. I received a letter about 3 weeks later stating that my check had a stop put on it (not true); in the same letter it referred to my check being returned NSF (also not true). I called customer service again only to be told that my account was paid in full and had a zero balance. I requested this in writing. I received a letter dated July 10, signed by a research services rep, stating that my account was paid in full on April 18. I heard nothing more until 3 days ago when I received a letter via 2nd day UPS telling me I owed them for my April payment and threatening legal action unless payment was received within 10 days via certified check and to return the payment in the enclosed envelope. The letter was unsigned, there was no envelope enclosed and the collections department phone number that was referenced in the letter was only open 8 to 5 EST (I'm on the West coast). After innumerable phone calls, I finally spoke to some moron in collections named John Ahmadian who did all but threaten to break my legs if I didn't pay. His mantra was "send us the money and you'll never hear from us again" - these were his exact words. Nobody ever contacted me between July 10 and now, although this idiot lied and tried to tell me he had called. When I told him to look through his records and tell me when he had attempted to contact me, he said "No, you just want to argue with me, I'm not telling you". Citimortgage has the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. If someone wants to start a class action lawsuit against them, count me in!

Citimortgage feefarming
We have been the victims of CitiWhatever as well--the bank has refused to post mortgage payments on time, resulting in late fees. They have refused to renew insurance policies through escrow, resulting in many wasted hours on the telephone. I think they run the system in this chaotic manner because it results in the corporation gaining fees and penalties they would not get otherwise. I am interested in joining a class-action suit against these evil morons -- California often has ways of dealing with fraud of this kind...zypher44@linuxmail.org
